Architectural GRC

Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) offers architects and engineers a highly versatile material capable of realising even the most ambitious design concepts. With near-limitless possibilities in shape and form, GRC is equally suited to cutting-edge contemporary architecture and the faithful reproduction of traditional façade features.

GRC panels can be finished in a wide variety of ways—painted, pigmented, faced with fine aggregates, or left in their natural white or grey tones—providing the flexibility to match any architectural vision.

Manufactured off-site and pre-finished, GRC panels are designed to integrate seamlessly with other building materials. This off-site approach removes installation from the critical path, streamlining construction sequencing and improving on-site efficiency.
At BCM GRC, we collaborate closely with leading design and installation partners to deliver exceptional results making BCM GRC the ideal manufacturing partner for your next project.

Experts in Architectural GRC

Whether you’re developing a luxury residential building, a dynamic retail environment, or a state-of-the-art transportation hub, BCM GRC has the expertise to help transform your architectural vision into reality.

With decades of experience and a portfolio of landmark projects, we understand how to bring complex designs to life—on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.

In the video, Jack Sumner walks you through some of our latest projects and explains how BCM GRC can support your next development with precision, creativity, and technical excellence.

Maximise Success Through Early Engagement

Engaging with BCM GRC at the earliest stages of your project—whether you’re assessing the suitability of GRC, exploring design possibilities, or conducting initial studies—ensures the best possible outcome.

Early collaboration enables accurate material specification, detailed bay studies, and the development of practical, buildable solutions. In short, early engagement lays the foundation for project success.

Leverage Decades of GRC Expertise

GRC is a highly specialised cementitious composite, and its successful design, manufacture, and installation require deep technical knowledge.
BCM GRC has been producing GRC since the late 1970s. Many of our team members bring over 30 years of hands-on experience, ensuring consistent quality and innovation.

We work with some of Europe’s leading GRC design practices and partner with installers who have delivered outstanding results on major,
high-profile projects.

Experience is not just important—it’s critical to achieving consistent quality and innovation. Few can match the depth and breadth of knowledge that BCM GRC brings to every project.

BCM Top Tip

Always verify the credentials and experience of your entire GRC supply chain to ensure project success.

GRC Design: Two Key Elements

Effective GRC design requires attention to both the individual panel and its integration within the broader
building system. These two elements are:

1

Product
Design

Every BCM GRC panel is engineered in accordance with GRCA Design Recommendations and current codes of practice. We use advanced finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure each design meets project specifications while optimising the unique properties of GRC. This approach guarantees structural integrity, performance, and efficiency.

Coordinated
Design

Modern buildings are complex systems that integrate multiple materials, technologies, and safety requirements. Effective coordination is critical to project success. A beautifully designed façade is of little value if it does not consider its interaction with structural elements, window placements, door openings, or fire strategy.

BCM GRC brings decades of experience to the coordination process, working closely with other trades to ensure that brackets align, elements are sequenced correctly, and on-site challenges are minimised. We collaborate only with the most skilled GRC designers and detailers, understanding that a fully coordinated design must meet the needs of the manufacturer, installer, and all other stakeholders in the often-crowded façade zone.

Most projects are modelled in 3D, with fully dimensioned general arrangement drawings and detailed panel and fixing information issued to both production and installation teams. This ensures seamless coordination between off-site manufacturing and on-site construction.

BCM Top Tip

Always request sample drawings and structural calculations before placing an order. It’s the best way to assess the quality and reliability of your GRC supplier.

Quality Assurance

Behind every panel we manufacture is a dedicated team of mould makers, sprayers, and finishers whose passion for GRC is evident in every finished product. This commitment goes beyond our comprehensive manufacturing processes—it’s rooted in the pride and care our staff bring to their work.
As a long-standing Full Member of the Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete Association (GRCA), BCM GRC undergoes annual third-party audits.

These audits assess our compliance with both the GRCA’s Specification for the Manufacture, Curing & Testing of Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) Products and our own rigorous quality procedures, alongside the requirements of BS EN 1169:1999 (General Rules for Factory Production Control of Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement Products).

Daily Quality Checks Include:

Mould dimensions, squareness, bow, and twist

Fixing location verification

Cavity and fire barrier rib placement and flatness

Bag and Bucket test – Daily calibration of GRC spray equipment

Washout test – Fibre content in uncured GRC

GRC bend test – Flexural properties (MOR and LOP)

Lifting socket pull-out test – Lifting safety confirmation

Visual inspection of the finished product

BCM Top Tip

Establish an Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) early in the project lifecycle. This ensures that all quality data is systematically recorded and readily accessible for review throughout production.

BCM GRC and Fire Safety

At BCM GRC, we take the fire safety and material properties of our Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) extremely seriously. We understand that effective design depends on continuous verification of the manufacturing process, and fire safety is a critical component of both design and production.

Since 2008, our materials have undergone regular testing, and we currently hold the following BS EN 1182:2002 reaction-to-fire classifications:

Non-Polymer GRC – A1
Polymer GRC – A2, S1, D0

These classifications confirm that our GRC products are non-combustible and suitable for use in building applications.
We are proud to provide certification to verify these results.

BCM Top Tip

Always ask your GRC supplier for official certification to support any fire safety claims.
