BCM GRC are proud to have supplied a variety of GRC elements to the residential blocks of Berkeley Homes’ prestigious West End Gate project in Paddington Green, London.

Berkeley Homes initially approached BCM in 2018, looking for GRC to break up the brick façade of their new residential blocks in Paddington Green. The proposed design of the GRC elements – string courses, copings, window reveals, and entrance surrounds – was bound by especially stringent parameters, with the vision of the project’s concept architects to complement the existing listed buildings in the surrounding conservation area.

Designing and manufacturing our GRC panels to coordinate with other trades in tight fixing zones, as well as integrating firestopping, were among the familiar challenges we faced on this project. The most significant challenge faced by the project as a whole, however, was the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, where BCM’s ability to continue manufacturing materials off-site proved invaluable.

As a Tier 1 supplier of material to Network Rail, BCM were able to continue working through the pandemic while most of the country was in lockdown, mitigating delays to the programme and ensuring that the project remained on track.
